Emily, RVT

Emily and her family moved from Victoria to Kamloops in 1991 and began bringing their pets to Kamloops Veterinary Clinic shortly afterward. Having always had a special connection with animals, Emily knew that she wanted to work directly with pets one day and she started volunteering here at the clinic when she was only in the ninth grade!

At the age of 12, Emily began volunteering with the Kamloops SPCA and took weekly horse-riding lessons at a local ranch. After high school, she was accepted into the Animal Health Technology program at the College of the Cariboo (now, Thompson Rivers University). Emily graduated with her diploma in 2004 and returned here to Kamloops Veterinary Clinic, where she has remained ever since. She has also done some work for our sister clinic, The Kamloops Large Clinic. Medically, Emily is very fond of emergency medicine, orthopedic surgeries, exploratory surgeries, and also loves performing blood transfusions. She was instrumental in starting the clinic’s blood-donor program and was even featured in the local Kamloops newspaper with her two dogs shortly after launching the initiative! Emily absolutely loves patient care and being there for your pets during their hospital stay.

Emily met her husband after he had completed some work here at the hospital back in 2006. They were married in 2011, welcomed their first son in 2012 and a second son in 2016. Along with her husband and 2 boys, Emily shares her home with a chocolate Lab named Remy and her new chocolate lab puppy, Ava! Sadly, she had to say goodbye to her beautiful lab, Abby, that she rescued when she was surrendered to the vet clinic 12 years ago. She also has four rescue cats Chuckie, Mario, Diddy and Gilmore. She also owns a Quarter horse named Tanner.

When she has time between work and her busy family life, she loves horseback riding, hiking with her boys and dogs, watching her boys play hockey and coaching her son’s soccer team!
